"Our Own Stories" Workshops

Our Own Stories:  Easing into Autobiographic Storytelling

Everyone has stories to tell! Finding yours is fun and easy in both writing and telling step-by-step activities. Barbara, with training under noted monologist Spalding Gray, has conducted workshops at conferences, retreats, schools, retirement centers- even at a group with Gloria Steinem as a participant.  A performance of one of Smith’s first-person shows is a powerful springboard, whether toward writing a memoir or the rare pleasure of reminiscing and sharing stories in a supportive group.

Format: flexible to fit any combination of students, writers, actors, or lay persons;

Length: as short as one hour post-performance, or as long as a weekend, or in a series;

Size: 12 is ideal; a maximum of 3 groups of 12 each can work with space for 3 circles;
